thousands of things I wanna write and tell but no time to do so. "Busy world girl" is slowly recovering from her last cold and all that. So as I am still feeling a bit tired in the evenings I spend lots of my current spare time watching films on my newly bought portable DVD player. I have to confess that I watched "The Godfather" three times on the weekend just to - again and again - see how great this movie is in all the aspects and - of course - to hear Marlon Brando and Al Pacino talking Italian. :-)
Last week's shopping tour brought me back to my childhood when finding the DVDs of "La Boum" ("Il Tempo delle Mele" in the Italian version) which I couldn't refuse to buy. You remember Vic played by young Sophie Marceau and her parents? Her great-grandmother Poupette? The kind of crazy grandmother everybody wants to have.
Watching the two films was like a time travel back to the feelings of being a teenager, all those hopes and fears. Being in love with a boy that does not recognize one (that stupid idiot!), playing games because you don't want to show your feelings, finally meeting the first big love ... however, the films make it really obvious: Messing things up is no question of age. The grown-ups don't know it better than the teenagers. Maybe it's maturity, not age? Maybe it's something we never learn? ;-)
And this brings me to something that I thought about over the last couple of days. I received a nice message from a friend of mine who was on vacation for a longer period and when coming back he said: "Apparently, I didn't get what I wanted but what I needed." How true.
Yes, I do agree. It's more about recognizing what you really need than about getting what you think you want. And I believe this might take a whole life. These thoughts actually remind me of a piece of lyrics in Sheryl Crow's song "Soak Up The Sun": "It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got." Might be a different approach but true as well.
Coming to lyrics and music, there are a bunch of new songs that I am listening to these days. So, today I give you two songs! Good girl! ;-) First is mostly unknown Sandrine with her song "Where do we go", currently featured in Fnac's advertising campaign. See her MySpace profile and listen to the song here: http://www.myspace.com/sandrinetunes
Second is a song that's already on air in some countries. I heard it a couple of times on Milan's RMC (Radio Montecarlo) - BTW, next to FM4 and the BBC's Radio 3 one of the best radio stations I know. The song is "Mercy" by UK newcomer Duffy ... "I don't know what you do but you do it well" :-D
Yeah Yeah Yeah x4
I love you
but i gotta stay true
my morals got me on my knees
im begging please stop playing games
i dont know what this is
cos you got me good
just like you knew you would
i dont know what you do
but you do it well
I’m under your spell
You got me begging you for mercy
why wont you relase me
you got me begging you for mercy
why wont you release me
I said release me
Now you think that i
will be something on the side
but you got to understand
that i need a man
who can take my hand
yes i do
i dont know what this is
but you got me good
just like you knew you would
i dont know what you do
but you do it well
I’m under your spell
You got me begging you for mercy
why wont you release me
you got me begging you for mercy
why wont you release
I said you’d better release
yeah yeah yeah
Im begging you for mercy
yes why wont you realse me
im begging you for mercy
you got me begging
you got me begging
you got me begging
Mercy, why wont you realise me
im begging you for mercy
why wont you release me
you got me begging you for mercy
im begging you for mercy
im begging you for mercy
im begging you for mercy
im begging you for mercy
Why wont you release me
yeah yeah
break it down
Love & Soul,
Iris
